| 8mm mauser DO NOT USE FOR WOODCHUCKS :)
well today i saw the greatest thing iv ever seen, me my friend and his brother went chuck hunting and my friends brother had his 8mm mauser....well about 30min into our hunt a chuck ran out of his hole and stopped about 30-40yds in front of us, travis pulled up the mauser and shot....we looked for an hour for any remains of this chuck and found nothing, alot of blood and some fur but thats it. so if you like to see your kill DO NOT USE AN 8MM MAUSER

Whacked a 'chuck years ago with my .308. Hit him just under the chin, put him in the air, and back about two feet. Vaporized his innards. Nice clean, quick kill..

You people get more bullet action than I ever saw.I have shot thousands of chucks and the only time I ever saw what you are talking about was on 1/4th grown babys. And in that case a .223 virtually disentigrates them. But a full grown chuck or even close to full grown is not going to just vaporise, even with varmint class bullets. In fact if you dont stop the brain or heart, they will probably crawl, even dragging all of their intestines.I have seen them crawl even when they had no use of their back legs. sam.

I took most of the head off a huge one last summer with a .45-70 and it still dived into its hole. Rear feet were visible, so I reached down and dragged it out to see where I hit it. They are tough.

My buddy shot a ground squirrel with his 8mm mauser a while ago, and it was quite possibly the grossest thing I've seen. And I've seen some nasty ones. But this one took the cake!
