New to Coyote Hunting

Besides pelts and what not...Are they good eating? As far as Jerky and Sausages? Does it have a good outcome? I had a shot at tons of Yotes over the years and never thought i can kill them with out a tag. Till I saw a friends Headed-rug.

If you want to take game that is good to eat,you might better help control the coyote population. They are often the principle reason you go where there used to be lots of game and now you don't see much. ,,,sam.

They lay down and roll in rotting flesh.I have often thought they do this as a scent cover and to draw other scavengers in for food.A fox smells because he lives with skunks and uses them to protect their den.Often someone thinks they smell skunk when it's actually fox. ,,,sam.

Personally, I would not eat

coyote meat. Although, if starvation loomed I would eat coyote meat.

I have a hunting buddy who's wife keep saying that she has a recipe for it... I agree with other posters above.... I don't really care to eat them nasty dawgs, will get the recipe and post it for you though! LOL

Although I must say that I am not one to be squeamish and will eat alot of new and exotic stuff... the ones I have shot however, I have never looked at it and thought... boy that may be tasty with some mashed taters and some garden corn! LOL Of course I will eat racoon and they aint really much to look at either!

Normally though a herbivore seems to be tastier than a omnivore or carnivore... you are what ya' eat.

Well my .300 WM is a bit much but as long as they're dead... I'd hate firing a shot with that canon opening day and its not at a deer. But To insure bigger deer population on public land especially i'll start doing so. Thanks SAMUEL thats what that Stink was after I spoked a fox out of brush. I thought I stepped in SHIT! hahaha

Never knew that. Learn something everyday. Regardless of the smell, they're some of the prettiest creatures out there.

Eating a coyote is just freaking nasty!!! With all the things that they eat, I don't see how someone could eat one without contracting some sort of disease!

Well people eat bear, and they will eat anythng. What about crabs? They only eat crap off the sea floor but they are good. And I won't even start on what a chicken will eat....get my drift?

BTW, even if you're desperate, don't eat their livers. In fact, don't eat any predators liver. You will OD on some kind of vitamin D or B. Personally, I wouldn't eat coyotes that have lived around humans too long.
