Savage w/ the accutrigger or a Marlin XL7 or XS7 with the profire trigger. The Marlin has become quite the popular gun, and around $300. Great rifle. See the posts under the Marlin section.

I too prefer Savage / Stevens, but don't own one in the 22-250 caliber. My hunting buddy has a nice Ruger 22-250 with a SS barrel and composite stock that I wouldn't mind owning. It has a nice weight, is accurate as hell, and is a very nice "pickup" gun that can take some bumps and bruises, dust, dirt, rain, etc.

If you like the Marlins you currently have, I'd agree with tappedandtagged.. They've got some nice rifles on the market. Savage ran into some patenting issues (so I hear) and Marlin has apparently designed their own accutrigger and interchangeable barrel very well!

Regardless of what you get, make sure you outfit it with a good scope!

For scopes, I love Nikon. And Nikon is now making a varmint scope. Instead of traditional crosshairs, it has a series of circles that are supposed to aid in taking shots while the yote is on the move.

Savage or Remington. Never shot a CZ but they are well built.

For months, I had my heart set on a Ruger M77 MkII in 22-250. Then, I dropped in at Sportsman's Warehouse and handled all their varmint rifles. I fell for a Remington 700BDL Varmint SF with the externally adjustable X-Mark pro trigger. (This IS NOT the SPS varmint rifle). It is stainless with a 26" fluted barrel in a 2-tone poly stock. It has the wide front forearm and two swivel nuts up front for sling and bipod. $750 from Sportsman's and $786 from WalMart. It's an even 1 pound lighter than the Ruger Varmint MarkII.

It is here at the Rem site: Model 700™ Varmint SF

I topped it off with a Nikkon Buckmasters 6-18x40 SF side focus. This scope was on sale (and may still be) at Midway for $299. It shipped in 5 days with std UPS ground (ordered Monday and received it Friday).

I used Warne steel rings (silver) and Burris Signature Zee rings. These rings use plastic inserts between scope and rings (no lapping or ring marks) and I've read nothing but good about them.

The rifle and scope are bore-sighted and waiting to go to the range. Before I even bought the rifle, I had 10 cartridges each of Sie 40 and 60 grain and Spr 50 grain cartridges loaded and ready to go. There they sit, and have sat for the last month, awaiting range day (Monday!).

i havn't decided how much im going to spend yet ....probly under 900 .......as far as scopes go im addicted to Leupold especially on my larger caliber rifles.....(im a goldring junkee, that lifetime guarantee has me hooked, and their tuff) .........more than likely a VX-II 4-12x50mm

p.s. Im in no hurry to get this gun and will wait till i can afford what i want (when i figure out what that is) and i want a reliable gun that can take some serious predator huntin and last thru the years.......

I've got a Savage model 10 predator in 22-250 and love it. It's lighter and balances better than the 26" guns and shoots just as good, .152" groups at 100 yards with my reloads which are 50 grain Ballistic tips running 3840fps.

Congrats on the savage, it will serve you well. If you have the chance do not pass up shooting a CZ bolt action! you will be pleased!

I bought a .22-250 Weatherby Vanguard synthetic about 6 months ago and really like it. Very good trigger, durable, shoots great...you might consider it for only $399.00.
