| First Yote with Night Vision http://www.cowskincreekfarm.com/images/coyoteweb.jpg I've been scoping out the pasture from my back yard just about every night since I got the new night scope. Generally the yotes are all the way at the bottom of the pasture and don't bother the livestock. Anyway, I go out tonight and I'm looking way down the valley for their usual hangout and notice a glimmer go through the bottom of the view. Sure enough it's a yote only about 75 yds in front of me heading right toward the paddock where I have my sheep. I wasn't going to go after them unless they threatened the sheep, and that was good enough for me. I had to chamber a round and can't believe the noise of it didn't make him turn, but he kept heading toward the sheep so I shot. Wasn't sure I got him because the recoil took him out of the sights. Went down with a flashlight and found him with the exit wound right between his eyes. The scope is awesome. Rifle's not too shabby either. D-760 Gen 3 scope on DPMS LR308 AP4. |

| sigh... That sure sounds like a lot of fun, but around here we have to bring along a half dozen lawyers to debate weather or not a shot would be feasible, the game is allowed a 10 day waiting period to decide if they would like to be harvested, and all preceedings must be recorded and submitted in triplicate to establish whether or not there was emotional trauma done to any innocent animals nearby.

Night vision is OK for feral hogs or "fur-bearing" animals but must be on private property with landowner's permission. Can't use NV on government land.

That's a pricy scope. I'd be afraid of breaking it. I tend to be kind of rough on scopes, etc. Rifles spend to much time bouncing around in the back of the kawasaki mule. Didn't realize you had sheep, etc. May need to stop by and visit your place and check them out 1 of these days. Randy |

Headlighting No person may attempt to take, take, attempt to catch, catch, attempt to capture, capture, attempt to kill, or kill any deer, feral animal or other wildlife, except fish and frogs or except as provided by law, by the use of a vehicle mounted spotlight or other powerful light at night, by what is commonly known as "headlighting" or use any light enhancement device (night scope). Provided, however, nothing in this code shall prevent one from possessing a .22 caliber rimfire rifle or .22 caliber rimfire pistol and a light carried on his person while in pursuit of furbearers with hounds during the legal open furbearer season, while possessing a valid hunting license and fur license, unless exempt. if i could i would.........but not in oklahoma..............(then again if i had a nite vision scope there might not be any yotes left to shoot)

Yeah forgot to mention, "Spotlighting" or Headlighting is OK with us too for varmints. (not for game unless special circumstances) Lamping for Foxes & rabbits is very popular, illegal to do it for Hares, Pheasants etc.. Also forgot, we don't need a licence but require permission of the landowner.

Does the muzzle flash have the capability to destroy the NV setup? Can you use the scope during the day?

Using the device in full daylight with no protective lens is warned in the manual. Mine comes with a cap that has a tiny hole in the center and works in the same fashion as a pinhole lens (like you used with a cardboard box to see the eclipse when you were a kid). You can keep the cap on and function test the unit. The image with the cap on in daylight is similar to what you'd see at night but you are unable to focus it.
