Don't know about the A/C, I went in the middle of winter. We live in an older barricks with a group head, and seperate rooms (2-8 joes per room). We had a fire wall down the center of the building to seperate the males and the females. Army posters everywhere. The building was in great need of repair, a basic sh*thole by todays standards.

My 1st Sgt in Korea (Ralph Salatino) used to tell me that he was going to miss me like a boil on his !!!!!. He was the only "first shirt" I ever respected. I can still hear his husky, New York voice in my mind.

Gunny Sgt H.H. Louder weighted in at about 250. He would take us out to the grinder at NAS Pensacola and there he would sit his fat butt down and run us around him. He called us every name previously mentioned plus a few more. He took 1 of the "candidates" down to the beach, got him all sweaty, and made him roll in the sand and grass. The kid got a load of flies and sand fleas on him and went nutso. They shipped him out that same day. Both Gunny Louder and Gunny Redmann were KIA in Vietnam.

Nothing comes to mind that can be repeated in a family oriented forum.
That was 3/32 Infantry in Ft. Benning in 87.

They called me mostly "dasher" ( because of my last name ) along with many that I would not try to say here on this forum. U.S Marines, Parris Island, S.C., 3rd battalion, platoon 3036 '90.
