Golden Coral

Any current or former Military member can eat free on Monday, November 14, 2005 at any Golden Corral in the country. Please identify yourself to the cashier.

No Golden Corral around ...dang it.

Do have a Rusty Corral though. And it stinks out there...especially right after a rain.

Bless 'em for honoring the vets.

We have a large and free dinner planned for the vets at my VFW for Saturday, the 12th.

BYW, Jerry, what do you show at the Golden Corral as proof of past service? Just curious even though I have no restaurant to go to. I have my DD 214 but the other items such as ID, etc. was destroyed years ago.

My Boy Scout Troop acts as gophers for the vets while they are in line waiting to eat, we bring out coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate and usually some small snacks so they can munch while they wait.

Apollyon67, most of us Dad's in the Troop are vets. Several are still serving. Our troop is in the Washington DC area, so as you might imagine, the line is literally down the block and around the corner on these nights. Most of the vets get a kick out of seeing the Boy Scouts in full uniform. The boys also get a free meal out of it, with the OK of Golden Coral. The boys "work" from 5PM till 8PM then get to eat and go home. Usually by 8PM the line is either gone or very short. We see few WWII or Korea vets. But we get a lot of Vietnam, Gulf War and Cold War vets.

Thats cool Dallas, I am in La Plata, I used to work at the Corral to earn ammo money for a few years. I would have worked that day pro bono had they done this then. Keep up the good example for your scouts.
