Yeah Lot's of people say that if we didn't hand power over to the black nationalists (Read Communist !!!!!!!s/terrorists) the whole world would have fought us but I dont know, think FW de Klerk just sold us out period. And there was no place in Nelson Mandela's So called "New South Afica" for people like three-two bat, they fought on our side (the wrong side)

Johan, there was right and wrong on both sides. I served with my own, because truth be told, I don't care who is right and who is wrong - I must stand with my own. This is the main reason for me joining up. At the end of the day you will be measured by your loyalty to your own kind. If you cannot be true to them, you cannot be true to anyone.

The Buffaloes (32 Batallion's insignia is the head of a Cape Buffalo) did some incredably brave things, but they were not the only ones out there. I had a book once entitled " Honorus Crux - Our Brave " that gave accounts of the deeds of some of the winners of that coveted medal.

The Honorus Crux is roughly the equivalent of the American Bronze Star, Silver Star, and Congressional Medal of Honor. It is subdivided into Honorus Crux Bronze, Honorus Crux Silver, Honorus Crux Gold, and Honorus Crux Diamond. The Diamond class has never been awarded, and I may be wrong, but off the top of my head I'm going to say that the only Gold class medals awarded were posthumous. If ever you are able to find this book it is well worth the read. As a matter of fact if you can find this book only in Afrikaans, then I will make the time and translate it story for story and submit my translation here. Howzat?

I actualy read that book a couple of years ago think my Grandma had it.
And yes I agree there were some brave guys all through out the force.
I never was called-up for service (Missed it by a few years)
But Think that everyone that went to SWA and Angola were brave men even if they were in the rear as non combatants, Braver than the End conscription dorks.
BTW Have you read Anything by Peter Stiff?
Visit Galago books on line.

Peter Stiff was the author on a book about the SAS and one on the Selous Scouts, I believe. If this is true then I have read those two at least.

I have a hard time remembering the names of authors, unfortunately, but I have read books on the exploits and operations of Recce Command, Selous Scouts, Mossad and Shin Bet, Spetznatz, SAS & SBS, Delta & Rangers and so on and so forth.

In fact I have just completed an account of an Airborne soldiers' exprience in the Battle for Bastogne, during the Battle of the Bulge. Pretty hair-raising what those poor !!!!!!!s from the 101st Airborne had to face.

From the little I heard the Mossad is a Regement you wouldn't want to mess with.
BTW Where were you stasioned in SWA? My Old man doesnt like to talk much about the war but from what little I know he was stationed at Okatopi

Actually, the Mossad is not a regiment. It is the intelligence unit of Israel. Shin-Bet is the Counter-intelligence unit. The Israeli's have to this day never officially acknowledged the existance of the Mossad. I have read a book on the hunt for the Black September terrs responsible for the slaughter of the Israeli Olympic team in Munchen.

Another good read would be any good account on the Raid on Entebbe. Classic. Otherwise you could visit Israel on their independance day and watch TV. You will be able to watch several dramatised versions of this raid in English, Hebrew, and Russian

The leader (who was the only team casualty) was a Natanyahu. The brother to a former Israeli president.

Your question: Ondangwa.
