CHANGE OF COMMAND


FIRST SGTs (OG,MXG,MSG): Assumes a position to the right of the assembly with the unit guidon.

INCOMMING CC’s (OG,MXG,MSG): Assumes a position to the left front of the assembly.

NARRATOR: "THE CEREMONY YOU ARE ABOUT TO SEE IS A TIME—HONORED TRADITION IN THE MILITARY WHICH VISIBLY ASSURES CONTINUITY OF COMMAND. THIS IS SYMBOLICALLY REPRESENTED BY THE UNIT FLAG BEING PASSED FROM COL XXX TO THE NEWLY ASSIGNED COMMANDER. TODAY, WE WILL FOMALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THE CHANGE OF COMMAND FOR OPERATIONS, MAINTENANCE AND THE MISSION SUPPORT GROUPS"

NARRATOR: “Wing…..ATTEN-HUT”

COL XXX: Executes appropriate facing movement (quietly) so he is to the right center of the stage facing the incoming commanders.

NARRATOR: (Direct everyone to take their seats) (If civilians are present: Ladies and Gentlemen, please take your seats. – If not, “Take your seat”.)

NARRATOR: "COL XXX WILL NOW EXECUTE THE CHANGE OF COMMAND FOR THE XXX OPERATIONS GROUP."


COL XXX: "POST" (Quietly)

Lt Col YYY: On the command "POST" Lt Col YYY will execute facing movements to position himself to face Colonel XXX.

OG FIRST SGT: On command of "POST", executes movements carrying the unit guidon taking a position behind and between Col Robertson and Lt Col YYY.

NARRATOR: "ATTENTION TO ORDERS, DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE, SPECIAL ORDER BBBB, SUBJECT: CHANGE OF COMMAND, DATED 06 FEBRUARY 2006 ASSIGNS Lt Col YYY, AS COMMANDER BBB OPERATIONS GROUP, BBB AIRLIFT WING EFFECTIVE 01 MARCH 2006"

YYYY: Salutes and says, "SIR, I ASSUME COMMAND."

Col XXXX: Returns the salute.

OG FIRST SGT: Hands the unit guidon to the Col XXX.

Col XXX: Hands the unit guidon to Lt Col YYYY

Lt Col YYYY: Accepts the unit guidon and hands it to the First Sgt.

OG FIRST SGT: Takes the unit guidon, executes appropriate facing movement and returns to the position in the Right Front of the assembly.

YYYY: Salutes Colonel Robertson, executes appropriate facing movements and returns to the Left Front of the assembly.

Lt Col ZZZZ: Upon Lt Col YYYY return to formation, execute facing movements to position yourself to face Colonel XXX.

MXG FIRST SGT: (That's me On command of "POST", executes movements carrying the unit guidon taking a position behind and between Col XXXX and ZZZ

NARRATOR: "COL XXX WILL NOW EXECUTE THE CHANGE OF COMMAND FOR THE BBB MAINTENANCE GROUP."

Col XXX: Returns the salute.

Lt Col ZZZZ: Accepts the unit guidon and hands it to the First Sgt.

MXG FIRST SGT: Takes the unit guidon, executes appropriate facing movement and returns to the position in the Right Front of the assembly.
