Don't forget about us "Targets". Privateer, the prototype reactor I qualified on in Windsor, Ct(S1C) was the same plant as the USS Tullibee(S2C).

Guess I spent my career on "targets." Gator sailor for my sea duty years of my career and then a nuke target on my years ashore as a communicator.

Rich

Forgot this one..you know...big brother. fyi..for any USAF out there I found this site: http://www.usafpatches.com/ , comes in handy if you've lost your patches or maybe you don't have a digital camera. I was able to find the exact ones sewn on my field jacket. I'd be willing to bet there are similar sites for the other services.

Nice to find a place where your're appreciated...all I did was fix airplanes, but I'd like to think it matters.

If you served it matters, and I Thank You you for your service - Respect.
And for you non navy types if we confused you with the taget talk, it's like this -
There are only two types of ships in the navy " Submarines and Targets "

On what Gator(s) were you aboard?
I spent some time on a couple of them. Much better then the old flat-bottoms; so I've been told. I lucked out and never rode on an LST.

Tell me, if a target gets hit and sinks does that make the crew submariners?

Just joking around.

Yeah, a living room with no windows (portholes), and the only door (hatch) is a hole in the roof (overhead)t that can only be accessed by a ladder...lol

A weapon, a ruck, and a map and compass. Leisurely walks in the mountains, woodlands, desert, and frozen tundra. It was a simple life.

oldjarhead, your a lucky man to have not gotten a ride on an LST. i spent a few years on this old rusty bitch. 30+ degree rolls were not unheard of. you know your rocking and rolling when stuff bolted and welded to the decks breaks loose.

We have all done our duty, in whatever way seemed to fit. I take my hat off, and thank you all, for the sacrifice you made, in order to serve our nation. I wouldn't have made a good sub jockey, or office guy,but I did my best, at my chosen job. That's all anyone could expect.

I guess I will fall inline on being tech challenged if can't figure out how to transfer pic. But I served with Co.C 1/75th Ranger Bat. HAAF,GA. Served with the Co.C 2/34th Inf Ft. Stewart GA when taken off jump status for 4 months from a bad jump. Recruited into the 10th SF Bad Tolz Germany. Then ran every crap hole in the world they could deploy us to for a vacation or a walk in the park. When I get this all figured out I will post patches I have.

CRS (Can't Repair Shit)

What AFSC? I was E&E Before becoming a Shirt. I never worked CRS. worked PLSC at Kadena in the mid 80's first assignment, kind of close to CRS but more depot level stuff.

I'm with you Jim. Until I can figure out how to post the patches, I was assigned to these [former] active duty units:

1. USS Ulysses S. Grant (SSBN 631)
2. Submarine Group 6/Submarine Squadron 18

I'll try to get images and do an edit to this post.
