No need to call me sir, I'm a Sergeant, I work for a living.

Your welcome...

Thanks, Larry, for the reminder, that we the few, the brothers, stand and defend this nation, without question, that the many may live in freedom. The comradeship, and brotherhood, are our reward, for a job well done. God bless the warriors of the USA!

There are moments in time that remain permanently embedded in my very soul. In each and every case, good or bad, it is my Brothers in Arms that hold them there.

I think the one thing that was said, that stands out to and for me is/was this. "The Willingness to do whatever it takes where ever it's needed". Those are my words. The words of the one that were said, that made me think of those exact words were "willing to do what's required".

On another note, that one guy that lost his left eye, what is on his or in his right eye? They looked/look like diamonds or something like that? Anyone know?

They are all warriors. Now, past and present.

that the reality, only those who defended know what freedom taste like, and more often that not we defend others freedom.I did it and will do it million times again. I been to to many funerals, i saw the dying next to me, try puting parts back together, and every day i see my brothers faces in my mind and also our enemies faces. I will never forget either one. we lived tru moments that are millions time worst than nightmares.and every time here in san antonio,tx or anywhere I see an american warrior only pride fill my heart and when I shake their hand is the proudest moment it could be. warrior to warrior,.and its true... freedom isnt free, but it worth the price.

Some will never understand, and no amount of talking can make them understand. You have to do it, and live through it, in order to get that flash of realization, that yes, this was the right thing to do. It fills my heart, every time I take the hand of a fellow comrade, whether it's a veteran, or a young active duty trooper. They all have a special place in my heart. God bless 'em!

I have heard that before. Don't we use the terms sir and mam to show respect?

I know you are forced to refer to an officer as sir or mam.

I as a civilian am not required to address anyone as sir or mam. If I met you in person I would refer to you as sir. Not because I have to but because I want to. I respect you for the job you do and am grateful. If non officers really find it offensive when someone refers to them as sir please let me know. I will stop. I mean no disrespect on the contrary, I want to show respect.

How do you even begin to thank them, and all that went before them?
Thanks for showing that Larry.

It why most of the young people in this country will never get John McCain.

When I see a warship, walk through the Pima Air museum, or see someone wearing a uniform, I feel great pride, and flash back to my time in the Navy and Coast Guard and the comaraderie that comes from working as a totally commited team.

Ten years... and I'd do it again in a nano second!

LarryO1970,
I joined a couple of days ago and just found this forum for vets. Thanks for the opportunity. I had the privilege to serve twice; first active duty in the Navy over thirty years ago and as a civilian investigator in OIF 06/07. A lot of posters here are right when they say that people will never fully understand our hard gained freedoms unless they've been in harms way to defend it. I know it's as true now as it was then. Thank you fellow vets and present warriors everywhere for your service; in and out of uniform.

I shook the hand of an old man today, a proud old man who was wearing an old black baseball hat. On that hat were the words "World War II Veteran". As I thanked him for his service, his eyes glowed with pride.
Don't hesitate to thank the vets you see, it truly makes their day and brings back to them the pride of by-gone days.
Without them, we could not have done what we needed to do and that will continue through the generations.

That was a great video Larry. If it does not strike deep within you well then you don't or won't ever know the true cost of freedom. It isn't something you run down to wally-world and buy. It cost the blood and souls of many young warriors that aren't afraid to pay the ultimate cost so so many ungrateful people in the real world can have the chance to stand up and spew some of this crap they say. We as warriors or service members we don't think twice about what is the right thing to do, we just do it out of the love and pride for our country. So I say never mind the ungrateful bastards, because we know what is right and are not affraid to do the job at hand. All hats off too our heros. RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!
