A poem for Veterans.

my girlfriend did this for her History class. i had her type it so you guys could enjoy.

A young man just turned 18
Fresh out of basic with his M16
A young wife and baby at home
Why he does it, no one will ever know
Being sent to a far away land
For his country, his freedom, and Uncle Sam
The things he will see and the things he will do
Will only be known by very few
But this young man will not fear for his life
Because he knows his brothers are always by his side
The sticatto crack of rifle fire
Fills his heart with anger and desire
To be back home with the ones he loves
Praying with his whole heart to the one above
This scene could play out anywhere
In the jungle, the desert, the frigid mountain air
Our hero will go wherever he is sent
Knowing we are behind him 100%
Who is this hero, you may ask
Is this a hero of the future, present, or past
The answer to this question should be clear
It is our fathers, brothers, the ones we hold dear
