USAF 1993 to present... Security Policeman. I was at Brindisi Air Station, Italy for Bosnia 1994 (sniper alley) and at Khobar Towers in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia when we were attacked with a truck bomb. God rest the souls of the 19 brothers in arms killed that night by the cowardice of the radicalized Islamic religion. F.O. Bin Laden. |

US Army Infantry. Retired when too many of the useful bits got removed by over aggressive bullets (I forgot that they have right-of-way). Did OIF 4, with 2nd platoon, Charlie Co 2/1 infantry 172 SBCT. The most decorated platoon in the War on terror. one day 13 purple hearts, 4 bronze stars w/ Valor, 5 Silver Stars, and I recived a Distingushed Service Cross. Vietnam War Recipients of the Distinguished Service Cross - Alphabetical List (Stephen Sanford) Currently we are ordering a special batch of AR-15 Lower Recivers in tribute to the days battle. The procides will go to building an M-4A3 style rifle ingraved with a silver star, for the brother, of one of our men who did not come home. He went into a buring building 5 times under machine gun and mortar fire to rescue his wounded and pinned down comrades. The only order he gave before going in was "follow me!" If any one is intrested in one of the "tribute Lowers" contact me directly at steve@biggamehuntinggear.com The price should be 250$ per lower (striped lower only). I thank all of you for your service to your country. It is sad that you never hear about the bravey of young troops on the news, But after having served with the men of the 172 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, I call tell you that America will be free as long as their are men like my freind SSG Mark Wall, who deserve more than a Silver Star, and Military Head stone. To tell the rest of the story; SSG Wall surived the battle on 19 November 2005, however, he died in Iraq of Non Combat causes before he could return home. He never knew he was awarded the Silver Star. The last man SSG Wall carried out of the house today can walk, and is expecting twins! I will follow you into hell my freind, you will never be forgotten. Stephen Sanford Distungished Service cross, Purple Heart, Combat infantry. |

Sorry to hear about your friend, Steve, and my condolences. My son had to bury one of his best friends after he got back from Iraq two months ago. His friend went to Afganistan, and was caught in an ambush. The kid beat himself severely over not being there to protect his buddy, and listening to him tore some old holes open for me. We spent some time getting everything put back in place, and finally had a good visit. It makes my heart hurt to see them go through the same thing, but I guess they're taking up where we had to let go. Welcome home and all the best to you. Scotty

US Army 1995-2003 Infantry SFC Medically Discharged 1/325 AIR, 3/325 AIR, 82nd Airborne Division C. Co. 2/75th Ranger Battalion 1/503rd 2 ID Camp Casey Korea 1/5 Inf, 25th ID In 2002 my unit was getting ready to deploy to the middle east, so we had to do one last proficiency jump at Ft. Bragg.. Well, that would turn out to be my last "hooah" thing to do in the Army.. My parachute collapsed at 100ft and I burned in, resulting in a broken L3 in my lower back.. When my guys deployed, seeing them get on that plane, was the hardest thing to do in my life.. After 6 months of recovery, I decided it was time to join my men.. Unfortunately, my Rear Detachment officer was a pencil pushing wussy and said that I had to stay back to continue supporting the effort.. 3 months later I found myself turning in the gear and living the hell life, I like to call "civilian" God bless all service members past and present.. Rest in Peace: CPL Lawton.. We'll party again soon buddy Last edited by SpecOpOperator; 01-15-2008 at 09:37 AM. Reason: misspelled words |

USMC 1969 - 1975 E1 to E5 ARNG 1984 to present E7 I NEVER thought I would catch myself in the Guard, Good God. After a deployment the soldier in the guard is as good as any other soldier, will NEVER be as good as a Marine though.......... God Bless all who have or are serving, they are the ones who have the BACKBONES where others keep their WISHBONES. Semper Fi We are the finest fighting force on the planet equipped with the finest weapons and equipment. All of which were supplied by the lowest bidder!! Navy/FMF Corpsman: "They are long-haired, loud-mouthed, disrespectful SOB's who would walk through the gates of hell to save a wounded Marine." Last edited by Wingwiper; 01-23-2008 at 02:48 PM. |

USAF, '92-'96, F-15 Avionics, Flightline, 27th FS, Langley AFB NYANG, '96-'03, AGR & weekend-warrior, Radar Scope Dope, NEADS I was proud to jump into my BDUs and serve with my brothers and sisters when I was re-called to AD on our country's dire hours on Sept. 11th. Quote:
LarryO1970, I was almost there at Khobar Towers in '96...my squadron had just deployed there for the regular rotation. But I was Palace Chase/Palace Front transitioning from the USAF to NYANG and didn't have the retainability to go on that tour. I didn't know any of those that perished...many of them were F-15 maintainers that my squadron was replacing...many of those who perished ironically were packing to go home (back to Seymour Johnson if I remember correctly). Some of the pilots I knew got injured because they were in their barracks at the Towers. My flightline buddies were all out on the flightline working the jets when the bomb went off...they were lucky. Last edited by ClayMan; 01-29-2008 at 11:51 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

They were due to rotate out the very next day back to Eglin AFB, Florida. 12 from Eglin, 5 from Patrick, 1 each from Offutt and McConnell. Yeah... I remember your "FF" F-15's in Alphaland. Some of us made it out unscathed (mostly) while others have been on medication for anxiety and depression since. June 25th 1996 was not a good night for many.
