"Semper Paratus!" Willy. I was glad to find another Coastie on these pages. Also thx to the member who wrote the praise for the cutter crew he worked with. I also would not trade a million bucks for my time in service. While I did not serve in combat, my respect and pride go with those that did. My dad was a vet, my brother is, four of my cousins and my nephew all are. God Bless The USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

cpl. , USMC, 1985-1993 journeyman electrician. How come nobody in the army or navy was ever a cook or paper pogue? They are always special forces or some jet jockey .

Hey Teufelhunden! I was a sparky too! 3rd Class Electricians Mate, but was trained on the other stuff after I was trained as a sparky. It has provided a good living for my family so I am always thankful to the USCG for that.:cheer:

John Osborne USN Tradevman (training deviceman 2nd class, 1958 to 1961 then 1962 to 1965.) California Air National Guard 1978 to 1983 214th Mobile Combat Communications Sq. one year then to the 129th ARRS. Frist Electronics Tech, the later Computer operations. In looking back it was the best life I ever had. Now is good but it was better then, lots of real good buddies. John

does the army still have cooks? soonafter i got out i heard that they didnt even give K.P. anymore due to civilian contractors...ever notice all the good stuff happens AFTER your gone! lol having K.P. turned me off of kitchen related duties forever! seemed like every other day i was on k.p.or roving guard! da evil bastages!

Been there done that. Went last March~August. I'm at the bottm of the rotation pile as of now. They kept us for 1 yr. Just got back to work 1 Apr. I think I need a new travel agent

My hat is off to all you guys and gals who served or are serving!! My short military resume: U.S. Navy, 1968-1971, E-5. COMINT, Russian Linguist. Last duty station was Kamiseya, Japan, spent lots of time at sea on TAD. Had some fun ... and took some guff. All in all, a real character-building experience.
