Dad entered the Army Air Forces in 1941, and retired from the Pentagon, as a full Colonel, working with General Curtis E. LeMay on the "Looking Glass Aircraft"... what was to become the EC-4, in 1965. Of all his accomplishments, I think this was highly ranked among his most cherished. This is a typed version of the citation embossed at the British Embassy in Washington, DC. The original appointment to the order is on Parchment, and signed by King George the 6th. That document is too large for me to scan.
The Brits are parsimonious with official praise and awards for merit and valor. For your father, an American seconded to a Royal Air Force squadron, to receive an official citiation from the King-Emperor is praise indeed. He certainly done good.
Jay if you have a FedEx/Kinkos or something similar in your neighborhood they would likely be able to scan the official document for you. Then it could be emailed to you or put on a flash drive for you, etc.
Or a high resolution camera, a good tripod and swivel head, and a macro lens would give you a good digital image.

I'm gonna work on the camera set-up... I should be able to come up with something.... thanks

I salute you and your father. This is what has made the USA unbeatable time after time. Generation after generation of American families have stepped up and given their all for this country. My dad also served in the US Army Air Forces, as ground maintenance on B29 Superforts. Then it was my turn, and now my son is taking his turn, in the US Marines. That's what being an American is all about, having the willingness to give of oneself that others may have freedom. God bless and protect the ones who go in Harm's Way!

Couldn't have said it any better myself, Seabee. Jay, I too would have liked to have met your dad. Judging from what I have seen you post, I think he raised a son to be proud of.
