Proud to have served

Greeting to all

I joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and left the service in 1954.

My specialty changed in 1950 when I was assigned to a billet in Naval Aviation. After training, I became an air crewman.

During the Korean War I served in Patrol Squadrons VP-871 and VP-19.

VP-871 patrolled using PB4Y2 Privateer Aircraft. VP-19 patrolled using P2V Neptune Aircraft.

The mission of VP-871 was reconnaissance, protecting the fleet and supporting U.S. Marine ground forces in Korea.

The mission of VP-19 was reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare in the Pacific.

I count the years in the Navy as the proudest and finest I have ever lived.

Me too, Swede, me too! I prefer them, to those who call us "war criminals". I got called that in college, and decided it was time to quit going to school, in California!
