Not too many people have heard about that operation. I was back in the Land Of The Big PX by then. I left in Sept 70.
Welcome home, brother.

Provided nothing unexpected comes up, put me down for USAF 2009-. Test in a week or two, do the physical shortly after, and go out for basic over the summer when college finishes. Thanks each and every one of you for your service.

I've had a chance to try a few NM M1's after geting out. Nice. Most of my experience is with the NM M14 (M1A). I was stationed in NY for awhile and was told that I had to requalify. I knew the armorer but didn't know that he was in possession of four NM 14's. He asked I would like to use one to requalify. My eyes probably went to dollar size. To make the story short I went from Sharpshooter to Expert with ease. Afterwards we talked about getting on the rifle team. Within four weeks of talking I was on my way home with orders for VietNam. Five years after getting out I scored an M1A and tried my hand at NRA Service Rifle and LEG matches.
