All I recognize are the decending flares. Anybody else know what the image is in the middle of the picture?

May have missed it, but noticed no one representing the 9th Infantry Divison in Vietnam. Served with 2/47th Mech. Inf. Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 9th Divison and worked in Bn S-2 (security&intelligence) section. Held same position at Benning and Schofield barracks.

U.S. Army 1968-1970: Ft. Polk, Ft. Dix, Ft. Benning, Binh Phouc Vietnam, Schofield Barracks.

RNL, shame your Spooky photo was not in color. Awesome sight, a C-47 Spooky unleashing streams of mini-gun tracer rounds at ground targets during the night. Viewed Spooky in action a number of times while in Nam.

Are you saying Puff the Magic Dragon is at work? Is it a time lapse photo? I thought they were contrails and you had captured a couple of low flying B-52's.

huffmanite, I do have one in color. I'll have to find it. It is somewhere in my slide files. And Dallas, it is a time-lapse photo. I didn't have a tripod with me but I was able to brace the camera on a concrete flag pole base at the Special Forces base camp where I was tdy.

I found the color slide of Spooky I have. While it is fairly dramatic, it doesn't have the same impact as the B&W version, at least for me. The color is too monochromatic because of the darkness as well as other factors, not to get too technical.
