| Joe, The P-1 is fine. Mine has a new or reparked slide. Works the nuts. The grip stink, old worn plastic, junk. Gun Parts sells replacement grips. They're made of wood and are carved to resemble P-38 grips. Fabulous. Not only do they dress up the gun but makes it more comfortable to shoot. I think they run about $35, worth every penny, IMHO.
