I've been interested in this pistol for a while now and wonder about it. I've been looking at a 9mm SA/DA model and definitly like what I see/feel. I've been told that the SW99 has had some issues that the Walther model didn't have. Just wondering if anyone knows what they were, why it would be better to pay slightly more for the Walther than for the S&W.

(figured I'd start another thread rather than necromance one that was several months old)

Bob Campbell gives a sterling review of the S&W 99 in his recent book. He rates the S&W 99 as highly as the H&K USP. The barrel and slide are made by S&W... everything else is imported from Walther in Germany. The differences between the Walther/S&W 99 are the shape of the slide, triggerguard, and frame... otherwise, they are basically the same pistol.

Great Gun! I have fired it and if I could afford one I would buy it over a sig or a glock.
