| Walther TPH
I've got a Walther TPH in my collection which I inherited from my Pop. It is a miniature PPK in .22 LR. I've never had much use for it and hadn't fired it in many years. I recently took it to the range and was delightfully surprised. I fired 50 rounds of CCI Stinger and another 50 or so of the standard CCI minimag with nary a misfeed. I was really surprised that the TPH ran the Stingers so well. None of my other .22 autos like the slightly longer case and all have ejecting issues. The Stinger seemed to be quite a bit more powerful than the standard loads. After a little practice, it shot very nicely centered 4 inch groups a little high at 14 yards using no hand rest. I doubt if I'd ever carry such a small gun in the CCW role, but it would seem to be an alternative to the P-22 which seems to be getting mixed reviews at best. The only downside that I see is that the small frame of the TPH puts the slide very close to the fleshy upper part of a larger handed fella's thumb. I don't seem to have an issue, but I could see it "bite" a larger hand. ![]() ![]()
