New Weatherby Mark V in .378 Weatherby

My boss sold this to me today, for a very good price, and I think it will be a great gun, I will have to buy reloading dies, and work up a good load for it. Oddly enough, it does not have a muzzle break, and doesn't show signs of heavy usage. I'm very excited about this.

Nice, Have you ever shot 1,they have the worst recoil. Worse than a 460,416 be like shooting a 5lb 375h&h.
Load it to h&h velocity then work your way up. The barnes x 270 grainer looks like a winner for anything that walks and loaded to the max shoot as flat as a 300 mag.

What in Arkansas would need a 378 to kill it?

I kinda thought the same thing, but, for $450.00, it seemed like it was too good to pass up.

i found this tidbit...The .378 Weatherby Magnum will generate considerable free recoil; an average of 104 J (77 ft·lbf) from a 4.1 kg (9 lb) rifle. This is in comparison to an average free recoil of 27 J (20 ft • lbf) from a rifle chambered for .30-06 Springfield. It is written that the .378 Weatherby Magnum will create a greater felt recoil than other cartridge. This includes two of its off-spring; the .416 Weatherby Magnum and .460 Weatherby Magnum

shoot it and tell me about it.
ive got my hands full with the .300winmag

Wow. Now lets remember, along with it's tremendous recoil comes equally tremendous stopping power. Looks like a good gun, Midas.
