| Howa 1500, 204 extractor problems
Hi just brought a howa 1500, 204 stainless 24 inch, thumb through stock. Apart from having accuracy issues I am getting cases live and shot rounds caught in chamber. I have prep all brass, trimmed etc etc to a acceptable (almost minimum length) but no success. Eventually had enough and ask to be set back to howa which happened. They seemed from second hand conversions via the shop I brought from, to be fixing the problem , replaced the extractor and test fired it and all was good. Came back to me and no good again, first 4 got stuck then about every 5 or 6th time. The extractor just does not seem to be grabbing the case. I put my cases in another Howa 1500 204 gun and extracts then straight away. (rem. brass) Question: 1. Has anyone else had issues with this in howa? 2. Could this be a "head space" issue. 3. What are my options now? I have 4 other sako guns, 1 in 204 that have never had a problem with the same brass. My understanding is that howa have sako extractors. with sending it back to howa and about 1 month turn around is getting painful. They need to shoot it more than once but this obviously will never happen. ADVICE would be greatly appreciated |
