.270 Winchester fans

I have just got back into .270 Win ownership after a 20 plus year wilderness, don't know what took me so long. I just brought into Australia (from the US) a Winchester pre 64 Model 70 featherweight and I love it.

Please share with me/us your experiences with this great caliber, your rifle, your pet loads and your hunting experiences.

Cheers & God bless

Welcome to G&G! I got to fire a friend's Ruger #1 and it recoiled much more than I expected. Maybe it was the choice of gun? But he later shot two deer with it and it took them out very well, powerful clean kills.

I have had a 270 12 years and killed Impala, warthog, kudu, wildebeest and oryx with it. People say it's on the lightn side for kudu & Wildebeest but I have never wounded any animal with it except for a gut-shot Warthog (hardly the cal. fault)
Great cartrige
