| Model 70 30-06 Just inherited my uncle's 30-06. Any help establishing date of manufacture would be appreciated. Winchester Model 70, Serial G966148. Guessing 1950s. Harvested my first whitetail with this rifle. Thanks. |

| Since it is .30-06 it has to be long action.Short actions start with the .308 length cartridges. sam. |

| In 1970 all 70s were long actions. Short actions came along later. |
