I'd be interested in seeing pic's of it when you're through doing your renovation work.
Better yet, how about some from my disassembly of it? I'll keep posting them to my photobucket account as I take them. The new ones start at 1894_032.jpg and go to the end of the album: just_a_car/Winchester - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Same link as on the first page. Hope you enjoy! I really liked finding all the hidden proof stamps, two of which look like either a "V" or an "L" (one on the front of the locking block and one on the top of the lever mechanism). There's an "H" on the trunnion (seen best in 1894_038.jpg) and (in order from chamber-to-muzzle) a "W", a stamping of the caliber, "V.P." with a circle around it (just above the caliber and inverted), sideways "5" (top towards chamber), "N S", 5-pointed star, and sideways "W" (top towards chamber). Those last ones are best seen in 1984_033.jpg. On the bottom of the bolt can be found a 4-pointed star. The stamp above my index finger on the carriage in 1894_046.jpg that looks like an "L" is also a 4-pointed star that is only half deep and half lightly stamped; the light half is covered by grunge in the photo.

It's like where's Waldo!

Will you accept donation for this very worthy cause ??? The photos of the gun look like the rifle
can be restored.
I'm delighted you dug it out when you did.
I wish I could think of the outfits name that restores lever actions.
Maybe another member will know and possibly have parts to sell you cheaper.
Congrats I'm a leverAction fan and wish I could be so lucky...A.H

I've found that Midway has the Lyman (which is likely the original one) for $74.99 and the Marbles for $99... a $20 reduction from the other places.

Getting this in working order is going to be my present to my father for his birthday, so as flattered and honored as I am that you wish to donate, I would prefer it be all my money.

Well, I presented my father with it all fixed-up in a cheap Wally-World zippered soft case and he was very happy to see it in working order.

He said that it really meant a lot to him... as it did to me.

I will try to get pictures of the finished product. I plan on giving him the Marbles tang sight for Xmas, since it was about $100.

Congratulations just a car you have a beauty. What you have is every collectors dream. I wish you the best of luck in the restoration. You might check eBay for the sight your looking for. There are a lot of old Winchester parts there. I would like to see how it turned out.
