| Long range guns
I am really interested in finding persons who are interested in talking about long range guns and shooting, I have recently purchased a .338 Lapua and a Cheytac long range system.

Wow, that's quite the system you've picked up there! Welcome to G&G! Unfortunately, the longest-range firearm I own is a MN m91/30, shooting the 7.62x54R and the local ranges don't go passed 300 yards... though, I only go to the 25 yard one that I'm a member of, because it's indoors and this is Seattle. ![]() I think we do have a couple/few gents here that do long range shooting, but I seem to remember they're usually doing long-range varmint hunting with smaller calibers. Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge on the subject than I can help you out!

I have a 1917 Eddystone 30-06 with a modern BSA rifle scope. Not bad at 250 yards. I think the central principal in LRR must be patience and an absolute practice in calm, stillness and focus. LRR is certainly different than shooting a pistol or black rifle. |

I use a .300 Win Mag as my long range rifle, I also use a .378 Weatherby Magnum for long range elk hunting.

That .338 lapua is probably one of the best long range rounds you can get your hands on. I know it is a well past 1000 yard shooter. Hope that you are trying to get into that long range stuff cause that is what you got. I also use a 300 win mag for the same applications and I have it in a 700 Sendero topped with a swarovski 6x18 tds. Works for me! I have tried Nightforce glass and Leupolds VXiii but I love the clarity of the Swarovski best. Let me know how you make out with your new rig, I am interested in looking into a 338 Lapua also. |

I am a true long range shooter. I won't try to impress you with the rigs that I shoot but sense most of you think that the caliber makes the shooter I will say that I have a .308, .300 win mag & 30/338. I try to stay proficient with all three. I am partial to my .308. I shoot in the bean fields of Plaucheville,LA, USA. Cyrille should know where that's at. I fortunate to be able to shoot as far as I can see.No charge. If ya'll have any questions I would be happy to answer.
