Model 67's value?

Thinking of buying a winchester 67, 22 pre 64. for my 14 yr daughter.
Rifle is in excellent shape. Owner said its book value is $225 but would sell for $125. sounds like a good deal to me but realy dont know that much about how they get their assessed value. I know if I looked hard enough i could probably find something cheaper (used beater in someones closet). But I was thinking of the value down the road. It looks like a great starter rifle. She probably will ony shoot it a couple of times and then loose intrest (like everything else) and the gun would end up mine. Any thoughts or comments welcome.

Tinman,
There were several variations of that rifle available, first, Make sure it is chambered for .22 S,L,Or LR, and not .22 WRF( obsolete).
Second , there was a 20 inch barreled Boys rifle, a 24 inch target boring, and a 27 inch barreled version with either a sporting bore or a SMOOTH Bore... The Standard rifle is worth 225.00 in 100% shape,
130.00 in 95% shape.
The other variations are worth More.
If it is good shape, good bore, 125.00 is a fair price in todays market.

Thank you Sir, I have read some of your past post and was hoping you would pick up this one. From what I've read you are one of the experts here. But I didnt want to bug you directly. Thanks again for the info. If I do get it I will post a pic.

Look it over close, check the bore, muzzle crown, etc, and look for signs of Refinishing...Good luck.

I was given a model 67 for my 12th birthday in 1947. The gun cost $5.95 at the time. As I aged, my eyes needed a Redfield 3/4" scope with the old Weaver "N" sidemount. I have owned several expensive .22 cal. rifles, and none shot better or as well as this oldie. I still have it as my only .22 rimfire and it will still light a matchhead! I bought two more used at gun shows for my sons. Buy it!
