Model 1887 Lever Action Shotgun I have inherited a Model 1887 serial #45492, I understand it was made in 1892. It needs a little bit of work, but I do not want to do anything to ruin it's value. How would I go about finding someone in the Seattle area to advise me on how to restore/repair this shotgun. I have no interest in firing it. I just don't want to screw up a nice antique. Thanks

if you do anything to restore it, you will destroy its value. internal mechanical repairs are okay, but external cosmetic work will ruin it.

Please have it evaluated by experts While this gun was not a marketing success story for the manufacturer, it is a collectable and interesting historical firearm. It would be wise not to do anything until you have a professional evaluation and appraisal. It could be valuable to a collector. Messing around with it would probably destroy that value.
