| Grandfather's Model 71 Well since i have been posting a bit in the reloading thread about this rifle, thought i'd share some pictures with you guys. It's not completely original, as you will be able to see. My Grandfather had a scope mounted and a Cheek Rest installed and also and extended butt pad. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...odel71Load.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...41/Model71.jpg |

| Very nice. Always nice to get something or have something that was your fathers. I didn't get that option. One of my brothers did though, the other brother has it, and I'm the one into firearms more then either of them. Dog gone it, I should have it. lmao...

| Very nice, and it doesn't have to be in original condition to make it's sentimental value very high. My dad give me his Remington 760, 35 Rem. before he passed and that is one gun that will never leave this house. My brother got the rest of his guns, but this is the one that meant the most to me. Thanks for sharing the photo's.

| That's awesome! I wish I had my dad's 30-40 Krag but he went and gave it to my nephew. I never got to shoot it, I was too young at the time, and by the time I was old enough he had given it away. Sure, I have some issues...

| Also, it all depends on what you get, somethings I could care less if i got them others i'd give everything. All my grandfather's WWII stuff is one of those things. All his papers and medals, uniform, pictures, this stuff is priceless. The rifle i could careless. |

I really envy F1609 and his prize gun.

| Awesome gun dude. My older bro' got my Dad's guns too! One being a custom built 30-06 on an original FN action! My brother sold it right away, ad I am still plotting his demise for it

| I'm a fan of those big winchester leverguns. I shoot a 95 carbine. Really good guns with a lot of history to go with em'. |

| I owned a model 71 in standard (non-checkered stock) grade which had the Lyman receiver sight that is still on your rifle. It had a lot of knockdown and recoil wasn't too bad due to good stock design and heavy weight. I also had a model 1895 in .405 Win. that DID kick like a mule. The stock was narrow like a canoe paddle. |
