I have a 290, same gun but with fancier checkering, etc. I can show you how to break it down in a zillion pieces if need be.

Thanks for the offer. When I'm ready to give it a go I'll get in touch with you. I got the owner's manual in my email today and I found the break down instructions online. I don't think I'm ready to tackle that yet. I'm going to be out of the area for the next two weeks. When I get back I'll be ready to go. Thanks again for the offer.

Ok.. Keep me in mind. I can help you if you get stuck.. I doubt that you will as the 190/290 is a very easy rifle to breal apart.

Gun parts Corp has your manual and spare parts, including those pesky magazine followers that get loose with age and like to fall out. I have one of those good old rifles myself, waiting on the extra cash to restock it.

I may be in the market for this breech bolt. Tell me more about it. Is it complete with the ejector, etc.

I recently inherited a model 190 and it has some rust on the barrel as well as the knob end of the magazine tube. I was wondering if anyone recommended a certain type of refinishing method. I looked on youtube and saw a couple different videos. What type of blueing method should I use cold, hot or that wonder blue stuff?

Cold blueing is for touch-up. With that being said, I use Brownells 44-40. It does a good job. Just follow the instructions. Hot blueing is of course the best method, but expensive.

The Winchester site is no help.

It seemes to be a good little rifle, so why isn't there info available?

Any help would be appreciated.
I have one too, ordered a new magazine tube from Numrich Arms, they also have stocks, buttplates, etc. And yes, it's a good little rifle

Winchester 190

Did you ever get an owner's manual for the M190 you inherited?

I have an M190 that my father and I bought back in the late sixties for $50 with a crappy scope (which we immediately discarded) and it still functions very well.

When I re-acquired the rifle just before my father's death, I called Winchester and they mailed me (free) a copy of the owner's manual. Very nice of them since most manufacturers charge $10 - $50 for manuals for their weapons ... when they are available.

Yes I would like to have a copy for the Winchester 190. Please email it to cmorris306@msn.com I've had the rifle for years and it needs to be cleaned properly.
Thank you very much

Hey .22hustler...

This is the third time I've seen you mention a "zillion". That seems like an inordinate amount of parts and breaking it down! I'm guessing that's over a million...???

Just screwin' witcha... Nice job!

Why do you need to take the barrel off?
