Winchester 1885 High Wall

Where might a guy find a recoil pad for a Winchester 1885 High Wall 45/70? Friend of mine just bought one, bit more recoil than he wants.

That gun is a collector's piece. I wouldn't put a permanent recoil pad on it because of reducing its value. There are rubber slip-on pads available. Check Cabelas or other shooting supply outfits.

Is it an older gun or one of the modern ones? W-W has made some recently, there are several clones out there too. I'd suggest that he try reloading lighter for fun shooting and just save the heavy loads for when they're needed.

It's a new gun. Say's it has a pretty good curve in the stock, banging him up pretty good. I'll tell him about lighter loads. Be up to him from there.

Or get a PAST recoil pad that fits on your shoulder.

Check with Limb Saver. I think they have a slip on as well as a regular pad for this gun.
