Yes. A lot of rounds disharged. Terrain was very rough, made it hard to recover downed birds. Steel shot requirement didn't help.

Non Toxic area; Next to a lake; Shooting Federal 1 1/8 oz 7's @ $4.50 per box or bismuth @ $25.00 per box. A lot of alternatives out there. Most not cheap.

I shoot a box of Bismuth through the Model 31 once a year. (not steel capable, too old) just for nostalgia sake. Steel take's 'em. Just not as good a lead IMOHO.

Steel Shot? We still sling lead at doves here in Tennessee. The only thing we use steel shot on is the waterfowl. I would have to go to throwing rocks for doves if I used steel shot. Unless they let me use my 3 1/2" magnum steel BB's.

Who ever past that law had never tried shooting doves with steel before. MAN! Your last picture Jerry.........Looks like you need a really good Labrador Retriever to find a dove in that field! :jaw:

The steel requirement is due to being right next to a body of water where waterfowl are present.

It's actually not too bad. I was using 1 oz Federal 7's (duck and pheasant loads) $4.00 per box, so not too pricy. My friend was using the same in 6's he thought the 7's worked better.

Most places we can still use lead. This being a special hunt site wasn't one of them.

judging from the doves around here, i could wack them with a baseball bat, they fly low and slow.
