UK Pigeon Shooting Day

Our pigeon shooting month starts next Saturday. Its basically a roost shoot every saturday in Feb, The first one is called national pigeon shooting day. We take a team of around 16 and we have 2 in each wood around the area. We decoy at the front and back, near the entrance to the wood, and also use lofters at the front.

We aim to shoot around 800-900 between us on the first day and this drop to around 300 a day by the end of the month.

Everyone gets together and has a go. Its quite an event for us here.

I think something like 1.6 mill pigeons were shot throughout the month nationwide last year.

Get 'em to block off trafalgar square for an hour or two. You'll probably reach your quota before the second hour though.

What's the favorite gun/shell combo for the shoot?

i use a beretta 687, over and under 28in barrels. For my cartridge I use Eley High Flyers, 71/2`s Need a fast cartridge for roosting. they normally drop in from very high... and fast.
