Cheney's shotgun

I just read on MSNBC.com that among the gifts Vice-President Cheney listed in his annual financial disclosure was a Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon II, 20-gauge, over-and-under shotgun, worth about $2300.00. Apparently ten people banded together and bought it for him.

I'm not complaining about them giving it to him, mind you. And I don't begrudge him having it. I'm just green-eyed with envy, and wish I could round up ten people who'd chip in a couple hundred bucks each so I could have one, too.

I think the shotgun he went hunting that day was worth quite a bit as well.

Maybe I'd have better luck finding a hundred people with 25 bucks each?

Maybe I'll just go start a blog, and see if I can talk 10,000 people into sending me two bits each.

Probably not; if I were that persuasive I'd go start my own religion like L Ron Hubbard, and buy all the shotguns I wanted.

I guess I'll settle for the one I just bought: a plain-Jane, Stevens 9478 20-gauge, with a 28" barrel and full choke.

Compared to the other one he was using, this one was a cheapie. His friends probably got together and decided he needed a beater he didn't have to be careful with.
