| I'm not sure I'm posting this in the right forum so forgive me--or not... On Saturday (30.Sept) I took my 12 y.o. son out to the Bozrah (CT) Rod and Gun Club for a Jr. Hunting Day program. Kudos to the club! They had a great program set-up for the kids, and plenty of birds and help: firearms safety instructors/coaches, trained dogs with handlers, pre-hunt trap session/lesson, et c. What a fine follow-up to the CE/FS (read: hunter safety) course he passed last spring; and lunch to boot! All gratis/free. My son was able to: 1) break-in his brandy-spankin' new Moss'y 500 (20 bore), 2) broke more clay than he missed (first time at a trap range, he's a natural-proud papa brags) AND 3) knock-down his first rooster (he trimmed the tail on his second attempt)! We're still smiling! I have only one question: This program is held at more than a couple of gun clubs, over a couple of months statewide. Why the H-E-double-hockey-stix isn't the CT DEP behind this program? I initially thought this program was conducted under the auspices of our DEP, and it's all funded out of grant money by a CT FOUNDATION!!! I gotta get on the horn and write a few letters...
