| Senior Member | Thanks SevenŠ I almost did not show that gun only because most folk may think i might be rich or something.LOL....The truth is i am probably poorer than a church mouse. But happy as a hog, full of slop LOL... where the heck are the other shotguns you guys have, i like them all and they certainly don't have ta be new, i just did not show the 1913 the 1932 or the 1935. LOL they work as well as the new one depending on who is pulling the trigger. |

Just don't come to our state to hunt pheasent. We hate you out of towners! Well most of you... ![]() The Businesses here obviously love it, small town tourism and what not, but if i get shot at any more by some dumb asses running around with their guns they shoot once a year, i'm gonna take 'em and call it self defense. |

| Senior Member | SoDakHunter Just who are you callin a dumb ass? All the post prior to yours are fellas that evidently have been around for some time. Your welcome in my state anytime, just don't make some lame ass comments directed to anyone here. I have been shot at also, but would never have a bad invite for nobody like yours. And if thats a joke, i ain't a laughin. |

Beauty O/U. Nice furniture. At my age, looking at and handling a nice O/U is ALMOST better than doing the same with a nice looking lady.

I hate to say it, but in Pa, you have to be retired to get a pheasant any more. The birds that make it through the winter are few, and the stock trucks run during the week. A working man doesn't get much of a crack at them. Seems like the guys that don't work, always know when and where the stocking trucks will be. Now grouse, we have those, and much more fun than stocked birds. I ever saw a chuckar last year walk through my yard, though in truth, had no idea what it was till I looked it up on the net. Earl, you ever think about heading out west for some of those pheasants, I would split the driving and the fuel with ya, though I have twenty more years till retirement, and not much free time till then. Guess I will just have to call in sick, lol. |

| Senior Member | forestgleaner Truer words have never been spoken....LOL..i agree, the grouse are bullets that can make 60° turns and better. Us retired bums have the ability to spend a little more time looking for the pheasants but as you said not many naturals left....LOL,,,Thanks for the offer in heading West i sure would like ta do a trip like that but retirement just don't carry the funds. I check the PA stockings listed on the internet to get an idea where the state fluffs them out and try to make close trips, but they will not give you a time. It is a joke, as the last time i traveled to the State Game Lands i arrived, and after walking three miles or so to the large areas where i figured they might release them, the truck pulled in with a State Game Officer behind me, since you are not allowed to drive up there. I just stood there as they released the birds and watched them take there flight in all directions. The officer asked me why i was not shooting them, Duh... i told him it would be a better feeling for me to let them settle in a bit... He just looked at me and said "To each his own"... I didn't care for the fellas cockyness and walk back down to the truck and headed home. This was a Friday, and i returned Saturday, morning first light. I shot my two birds and my son shot one as i called him the night before and let him in on my findings. I will stop by your profile and see if your in PA and if you are close i will hook up with you and maybe we could have a well memorable day in the field.......earl |

I just stumbled into this thread and it was like finding a family reunion I didn't know I had. Moved to Wisconsin 20 years ago to live in the country and hunt pheasants. Found some. Got a GREAT dog. Found a bunch more. Dog died, so did a lot of my enthusiasm for hunting. After a year, was told I was getting a "rescue" dog. GREAT dog, known as Young Bert, the not-right dog; a GWP. Not a lot of birds around SW Wisconsin, but some. Fewer hunters, really. Friends have died, moved, or gone bust over the years. But while Young Bert and I can get around, we'll be annoying the pretty birds. ![]()

Thanks Earl. Shotgun is an AYA Matador II. Twenty gauge, improved and modified, single selective trigger, vent rib, 26 in barrels, tang safety. LOVE it. Got it in 1969 used, with three payments over three months to make the $125 purchase price. (Early marraige economics.)
