| My first gun was a Gibson's discount store single shot 410, follow by a Ted Williams 22lr single shot. Well, those weren't really mine. My grandfather bought them for me and my brother to shoot. I have the 410 and my brother now has the 22. I was 8 or 9 at the time. Then there was a loooonng dry spell. The first gun I bought for myself was an 1100 Left Hand SA skeet. I had to turn 18 before I could buy it and the minute I turned 18 I ordered it from a local gun shop.

| My apologies for intruding on the Lady Shooter's forum, but I don't think the question is gender-specific. My first was an odd duck my Dad got for doing some engine work on a guy's car. It looked like a Ruger 10/22 but was a single shot .22 (Short, Long or LR) that loaded via a trapdoor in the top and ejected automatically out the bottom. There was a manual ejector lever for clearing cases that failed to eject that looked like it came off an M-1 carbine. It had leaf spring rear sights and a front post with a bead on the rear face. Barrel length was about 18 inches. Safety was on the rear of the receiver convenient to your thumb. I can't remember who the manufacturer was and I've never seen another one like it. Dad taught me how to shoot with that piece. It was stolen from over my fireplace in New Hampshire in the early 1980s along with a brick of .22LR on the mantelpiece while I was away one weekend. The local cops said it was probably kids (they stole a bottle of whiskey and a six-pack out of the kitchen too), took a report and did nothing. Anyone think they could identify the maker and model from the information I gave? I'm really curious. |

| I learned to shoot with a Remington bolt .22, and a Winchester 94 30-30. My first gun I owned, was a savage 110 .308 rifle.
