| I don't carry a gun on me, just don't need to. Living in the country is pretty nice. My wife doesn't carry either, but she has a .22 mag revolver she has at home when she's by her lonesome. I have a .357 mag and a .45, but she doesn't like shooting them. I figure a .22 magnum is good enough to scare someone away, and if it doesn't, a .22 mag should be good enough to at least disable the perp. I've trained my wife to shoot for the chest, it's a bigger target than face or neck, and I think a .22 mag should be good enough to at least pierce a lung or penetrate to the heart. It's good enough to drop a deer or wild hog, after all. on a side note, a guy I used to work with got shot in the chest 4 times with a .25 and picked them out with his fingernails, some guns and bullets are just cheap, and thugs aren't always very picky.

| i carry what i can conceal reasonably on my person. i'm not a bulky person and i don't tend to wear oversized t-shirts like most men i shoot with or know. i don't often carry a purse so whatever i carry has to be concealed on me and not in a bag. that being said, and frame sizes being what they are, i can't easily conceal a .45 without investing in a whole new wardrobe and changing my habits. about the biggest i can get away with is a .40, so that's what i would carry. but i sleep next to a .45 every night. its not a matter of being able to handle a big gun or not, its a matter or practicality for me and my lifestyle. i can shoot anything that i want, but i can only carry what i can hide. |

| my wife had a recoil prob. as far as the larger cal.'s go. .380 with the right ammo will take down most attackers. She now uses a .380 thunder and a 9mm either one with hydro shoc ammo is a fair stopper. Shes not afraid of the larger cal.'s ( she shoots my .45 as good as I do) she just doesn't like the recoil. Shes about 90lbs. ( and I think she had rocks in her pocket at the time) |

| Military Rifle Collector ![]() | I had a GF that was shot 5 times with a .25 and she walked bleeding and beaten to the neighbors for help. She lived. The 6th round went into the bathroom floor. Not the best round for SD. However her husband managed to reload and kill himself with one shot. So it is possilble anyway. I personally have seen 9mm bounce off a dogs head not once but twice. My cousin ran into a 9 bouncing off a dogs head as well. Thats why I carry a .357 and always will.
