Obama and Huckabee win Iowa caucus, thoughts?

Pretty interesting results, both victories were pretty sound (at least 8%). What do you guys think about this?

surprisingly, too. As well as the fact that obama has the lead in New Hampshire now, he probably is the dem's choice.

as for huckabee, well all his success is because of one thing: chuck norris. Seems like a pretty intelligent man, very firm on his beliefs.

Clinton would be a shot in the foot, what with 52% of the country saying they wouldn't vote for her (including me). However, i do like obama, and before the swarm of dem-haters hits this post, atleast look at his point, got to his site, he seems like a pretty decent guy. He's got my vote if he gets the nomination.

I wanted Ron Paul to get nominated for Republican, but he won't get it

Enough said!

Republicans = more useless war.

Republicans = more assaults on our other civil liberties.

See our dilemma?

Oh, I see it and even understand it but without the rights protected by the 2nd amendment we will have no way to defend the other civil liberties.

Fellows, I think you are a little early on predicting Hillary's demise. While I would like to see her out of the race you have to remember she is the wife of the Comeback Kid. I had also hoped that Obama might be an alternative if Ron Paul, Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson were bypassed by the Republicans but in Coeloptera's thread on Obama and the 2nd Amendment, post #100, an Email from Obama stating that he will vote to reinstate the assault weapons ban makes him unacceptable to me.

I pray that the Hill-Bill B.S. is about to get it's nose rubbed in it. They think this country OWES them the white house, and they act like they're the only people around with any good ideas. Well, I for one don't care for socialism in any form, I can make it without big brother telling me how! Those two think they have a better way for all of us! I guess they don't realize that we have minds of our own, And I for one intend to exercise my rights til the day I die! Scotty

Iowa picks corn, not presidents. Too early to tell who will get the nod form either party. Remember the Dean fiasco when he all but had the nomination in his pocket? That can happen again, remember, its America, and people will turn on you for the dumbest reasons ever.

I think that these two results mean that the people of Iowa care are focusing on personal character and potential for cooperation first.

Obama is pretty far left but compared to Hillary and Edwards is probably the most trustworthy and the least dangerous to freedom, whether by having the least interest or least ability to destroy it.

Between morally liberal Thompson, vascillating and Mormon Romney, one-track-mind Paul, and RINOs Guilani and McCain, Huckabee is pretty much in the center of the Rep party.

A hotbed of conservitism,no. Pretty liberal...that isn't accurate. My state of Iowa is more moderate than anything. Blue in 2000, Red in 2004. You know many think Iowa is just corn fields and cows but that really isn't the case. There are several very metro areas of the state. Some times these areas pull the votes left but we have one Republican Senetor and one Democratic one (Grassley and Harkin). I know that the Represenative from my district is Steve King, a very conservative guy, I can't comment on the others. I can tell you that at the republican caucus I attended everyone took their role very seriousely.

Seriously though, if Huckabee gets supported, I will vote for him. McCain has already dealt his death blow in my opnion. I dont know if you remember, but I think it was sometime last year that he sided with one of the most liberal commies in Ted Kennedy. They were trying to push an amnesty bill for illegals. That killed me off in a big hurry.

I'm very pleased that Huckabee won again.

All the other canidates have been to Washington before so what have they done while there ?
They say all this B.S to get elected and we still either have more of the same or even worst.
Weve got a goverment out of control and it needs fixing, theres No common since in our federal goverment today.
Our economy is ship wrecked , weve lost to many jobs to other countrys, were loosing the middle class thats hard work keeps this country going. They've killed off a lot of our young middle class in a war I couldn't began to explain the real reason were there.
We have Illegals takeing jobs that we will do when our jobs is sent to some where else.

These ------ ----ers that are running for President have already been in Washington as senaters or congressmen and they are GUILTY !!!! What have they done ?

Huckabees isn't. I personaly feel if there is hope then he's the only hope we have if it's not to late !!!

AH

I totally agree with you dude. Huckabee seems to be our only choice. I was first a Paul supporter, but when Huckabee got the nod more or less, I jumped on the bandwagon. I like his style and his no B.S. policy. I just hope he doesnt fall into the laps of the communist lobyist that rule Washington.

I have to agree, I'm please Hillary isn't making that good a showing.

I have to go with most of your points too, AH, McCain is over, and good riddance. I'm going to have to look into Huckabee a bit more deeply (being registered Independent means I get to be pickier).

Immigration is still a big issue and something needs to be done, both at the border and with businesses within the country. I better hear something on that from Obama, soon.
