Let me ask then, If the November election ends up being McCain vs Obama or McCain vs Clinton, irregardless of how he's stood on gun issues in the past, what will one do? We'll have to take the lesser of the two evils I'm guessing.

Also, I'm still unsure on this, but, the other day and because I'm still unsure I didn't want to say anything, now or then, because of that. But, I was watching McCain speak to the Conservative group. He did say he supported the 2nd Amendment, I did hear that. Then he made a comment about not voting for the "assault Weapons" ban, and as he said assault weapons, he hand gestured the quotation marks as he said it. Now that is where I thought I didn't hear him correctly. I saw him do the hand gesture and I know or could have sworn I heard him say he didn't vote for it. That's what I wasn't sure about and didn't want to misquote.

I'm not sure even now. But I'm only mentioning it now, incase someone else saw and maybe heard that also, or so maybe someone better at researching and finding stuff on the internet then I am, could find it? I'm sure what he stated to the conservative group was/is posted somewhere on the net? Only thing I found on Fox, was the picture of him, making the hand quotation marks gesture, from that speech. When I clicked on it, it did go to a page where it briefly mentioned what he said, but didn't say a thing about the 2nd Amendment or the assault rifles thing, and we all probably know why. Again, I may be wrong with what I thought I heard him say. I know he did say he supported the 2nd Amendment.

I'll try to find on the net, what he said. I'd others also try and find it? I know I wasn't hearing things. Maybe I heard what I wanted to though? lol But, again, I'll try and find it.

I found his speech, he did say what I thought. Follow the link.
John McCain 2008 - John McCain for President READ THE 6TH PARAGRAPH! Don't count the first sentence. Don't waste your time listening to the speech. It's bits and pieces, not of all of that speech. Just read that paragraph.

If the election is McCain vs Clinton, McCain would have to something pretty extreme for me not to vote for him. If the election is McCain vs Obama, I would be waiting to see what McCain turns into.

I WILL NOT vote for Clinton or Obama at all. But IF McCain turns out to be lousy enough, I will consider voting Constitution or Libertarian. That would at least make it clear what the Republican party has to lose when they let someone like him get the nomination. And that's IF he becomes a complete dissapointment.

I'm still hoping for Huckabee, and still hoping that if McCain gets the nomination he'll see the light, which he may be starting to already.

What absolutely stinks though is his support for the Clintonian line-item-veto. That's basically giving the president power to rewrite any bill and make it law without the legislature revoting on the new bill. Consider the new NRA supported bill on NICS Improvement - what if the president could cut out the provisions for appeal and just send the bill through?

I believe that, no matter what you might think of McCain and X, if either Hillary or Obama got into the White House it'd be orders of magnitude worse for the 2A. That's why, for me, it'll either be a vote for McCain, or a vote against H/O but still a vote to make sure that the Dems do not get into office in this case.

Looks like a good chance we'll wind up with McCaine vs Obama. At least that beats Hillary vs Rudy, like I predicted we'd get...I don't mind being wrong that time.

Well T2K, if it is McCain vs Obama, Obama isn't any better as far as gun control then the Hildabeast is or would have been. McCain, at least according to that speech, has come out and said something positive in regards to the 2nd Amendment anyhow. Now not that it means anything. But it is a step in a better direction for gun owners.

I doubt any one, could push a bill that would in effect "DISARM AMERICAN'S" and try to make a gun grab. If that were to happen, the larger hidden message would be; SOMETHING ROTTEN is about to happen to the United States and it's citizens, and we aren't going to like it. Thus, this is exactly when we would want our weapons...
The people need to keep a keen eye on people like Henry Kissinger, and others, who are UN members. The UN wants us disarmed big time...I wonder why?
We are in dangerous times I'm afraid...can't really trust anyone 100%.
I read in a local news paper, OBAMA DOES NOT support owning any weapon that is Semi-Auto, and uses a clip. He believes the 2nd ammendment only pertains to single shot rifles. Not hand guns, no semi-auto's, and certainly not assult type guns. He is even against pump shot guns... this is what I read, my hand to GOD.
We need to know more about his agenda's, stances, and records...McCains too...

I just hope the libs don't control congress

From what I've seen

Clinton- lol do I need to explain?

Obama- He wants to copy cat off Australia, and ban all semi automatic weapons

McCain- Kinda Complicated, seems like he just wants to re-instate the Assault Weapons Ban(Um, we don't have selective fire...)

My question was to those that claim he is rabidly against the 2nd Amendment; What has he done in his past to prove this? Did he vote in favor of the Brady Bill, or has he drafted any new legislation for more gun control.

Seeing as he is probably going to get the GOP ticket, it would probably be good for everyone to compile some facts here to help us make a more educated vote. Please try to use prior facts and voting records from credible sources too.
McCain had a pretty good rating with the NRA until McCain-Feingold passed. Besides that, the only real gun control bills that he voted for were a trigger lock for handgun sales requirement, and one that would outlaw private gun sales at gun shows. Neither of them passed.

Regardless, McCain at his most anti-gun is much more pro-gun than Hillary or Obama will be on their most pro-gun day.

This election reminds me of when Dole ran for President.
The thought about gun owners then was “who else are they going to vote for?”
I would rather have a known enemy standing in front of me than someone who I think is friendly standing behind me with a knife in my back.
If they stop private sales at gun shows, then the next bite will be to stop all private sales.
McCain (in my opinion) is wanting to take away our rights, just not as fast as the others.
Either way you go, your great grandchildren will NOT own arms.

It’s a little bite here and a little bite there.
A compromise here a compromise there.
“I don’t like/shoot that kind of a gun anyway so it don‘t affect me.”
“That restriction is OK. It might help control crime”
“This person is the lesser of the evils.” evil is still evil!

In the end, down the road, it ends up with America disarmed. When that time comes, the majority of the people will think that they don’t need them anyway. A few will and (again just my opinion) curse our generation and the two before us.
