McCain wins Republican nomination, Huckibee is out

Well as the title says, McCain wins the Republican Presidential nomination and with that win, Huckabee bows out..

It's business and usual; with the Bushes and the Clinton's. We're done! I just went to this web site. Constitution Party News Articles We are really going to miss Ron Paul.

I dunno, Deersniper. I don't think McCain's beholden to the Clintons for anything, and he sure as hell isn't in Bush's pocket. There are a lot of things I disagree with the old coot on, but I don't think he'd be the disaster I believe Bush has been.

I'm still withholding judgment on Obama. So far I think he's pretty impressive in some ways, but I'd rather have someone a little more pro-gun owner to counteract the Democratic majority that we'll probably get in reaction to the Bush years.

T2K, the House and the Senate already has the Democratic majority last I looked. We might need the Republican President to prevent that from running a muck wall over us so to speak.

As for Obama, I'm not thrilled with the law being passed where the president can pass things or do things without first getting the approval from congress. I don't know what all he can or can't do, but if Obama gets in there, I'd sure hate it to involve the 2nd Amendment. He's obviously anti-gun. Look at Illinois gun rules and laws. Remember, he came/comes from here as far as experience...

Yes, Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee would have meant change in the Government and support of our Constitution. It will be interesting to see who Mc Cain picks for a V.P., not that it will matter much. It might be an aid in determining whether he is the lesser of the two evils. However if there is no election this fall it won't be important any more.

Why do you say "if there is no election this fall"? You know something we don't? Or were you just thinking out loud?

Just thinking out loud about the additional authority that the President now has without having Congressional approval, making treaties for the use of Canadian Troops on U.S. soil, ability to declare Martial Law, and through the Patriot Act disregard some of our Constitutional Rights. No one person should have this much power. Our Constitution divided this power to prevent this danger. Congress could still help by repealing the Patriot Act and striping the President of the power to make treaties and declare Martial Law without Congressional approval. Unfortunately, I don't expect them to act.

That may be what pushes me into voting for McCain, GM. He and the Democrats work together sometimes, but not always like Bush and the Republican Congress did.

One of the things that amazes me about the way the Bush people have pushed for an Imperial Presidency is that it never seems to have occured to them that a liberal, Democratic President could use those powers in the future...it's like they believe none will ever be elected.

Well, if they know there is not going to be an election.......?

Mc Cain was on the 5:00 P.M. news and said that he didn't have a short list for a V.P., only a long one.
