| Obtaining FOID card
I currently live in Illinois and decided that I wanted to apply for a FOID card. Now I realize that if you have a felony on your record or have a mental problem your pretty much screwed from what I have heard. Now my question concerns something that may or may not hurt me in my task to obtain card. Close to a couple years ago I developed an anxiety issue and decided to go to my university counseling center which offers counseling concerning many different issues (career, relationship, mental health) and can offer treatment. I did fill out some forms before seeing a counselor but cant recall what i was signing I was referred to an anxiety clinic but ended up never going. I was never given treatment but the visit seemed more diagnostic than anything. Im not sure if anyone can help me with this, but can this hurt my chances of getting a FOID card. Im even confused as to whether this should even be counted for the section saying "in the past 5 years, have you been a patient in any medical facility or part of any medical facility used primarily for the care or treatment of persons for mental illness?" I am totally fine now and wouldn't want this to screw me over. But then again, I wouldn't want to get in trouble for being untruthful on the form.

Read the FAQs and search for other answers to your question/s. Call them if you have to. Firearm Owner's Identification Information I do not want to misguide you in either direction or for either issue... Call the Illinois State police and follow the prompts in regards to the FOID card... Good luck.
