| Washington is killing us !
I was just watching C-Span and a young Senater was admonishimg his fellow Senaters about legislation they passed 2 week's ago Banning Oil production in the Oil shell in and around Colorado 2 weeks ago. Did anybody here, hear about this ? He also brought up that the Military wanted to change over to synthectic fuels. And they voted NO to that ! He also said the American people want Oil production in Alaska and off shore and the majority of you have said NO to that ! He also said the majority here favors the importation of Oil from over sea's. He ran out of time and had to sit down. What's yalls take on this ? Mine is to clean house in Washington, DC. I'll stop here before I get nasty !!! |

I agree 100+, AH !!!!! It's time to clean house and vote 'em out. We need to build nukes, we need to drill everywhere, we need to exploit renewables, we need to burn coal to tide us over--if anyone disagrees with this (or promotes gun control in any way) OUT THEY GO ! What have we gotten from them ? Debt, Taxes, and Record High Prices. Words don't put gas in their tanks. If I was Sarah, I'd give the green light to drilling in AK right now and say screw the feds. Let 'em try and stop me. $2/gal gas in AK would go far to having the residents throw the EPA out.

| My wife's strategy for this fall . . .
seems to be shared by many others - in each race she plans to vote against the incumbent. I feel millions share her disgust and dissatisfation with our current crop of elected officials. |

Nukes are the only thing that can pull us out of this mess in the long run !!!!!!!. Nuclear breeders now, then fusion in a few years. The uranium-thorium or uranium-plutonium cycle even conservatively can give us power for a couple hundred of years at a reasonable cost. It's a clean safe energy source. We shoulda been building them since the 70's; europe and japan even exploit the technology extensively.

| I always hate to hear this.We should research how an encumbent votes. We may be voting against someone with our best intrests and for someone that will oppose our intrests.nra/ila has voting records on most candidates and you can go to their own website and find out how they voted in congress or the state for that matter.Condemnation without research,or voting without informing ourselves is how we got in this mess and how we stay in it and keep voting the same ones or someone just like them back in. sam.

| Senior Member | I heard about it on talk radio. That and the Internet are the only places I get my news...rarely watch TV. We need to get their attention but I'm pretty fed up with them. Both parties are doing it to us. They want us to go green. I'm tired of fighting them, I decided to join them and I have a new web site. The Lieberman-Warner bill being discussed today in the Senate (or one like it) will sooner or later force a "green tax" on energy use. It's coming. Companies will be forced to pay others who use less energy and or leave less of a carbon foot print. I've named my new company: "Global Warming Carbon Footprints" - Got both the global warming thing and carbon footprint slang thrown in the name. Me and my buddies will sit around in my cabin which has no electricity and no running water. We have to use an outhouse and or relieve ourselves in the woods. Companies wil be forced to pay carbon taxes and they can donate their "green" carbon dollars to us. We'll even go out to our tree stands and sit all day doing nothing. We'll be darn near zero with our carbon footprint. GlobalWarmingCarbonFootprints.com ...Check it out I'm serious guys....I'm going green.

Well C'mon. They recently put the flipping polar bear on the threatened list or some crap like that. All in an attempt to block oil drilling in the arctic. Problem there is, Russia and anyone else not associated with the US can drill for oil as this doesn't affect them nor do they have to abide by it. The thing Glenn Beck spoke of was that back when there were something like only 5000 polar bears, no one did anything. Now there's the interest in drilling oil up there, there's something like 25,000 polar bears and they put it on the threatened list. And this is the very first time it's ever been done in regards to climate change. Yes, that's right. That's the kicker. It was done in the name of protecting climate change or some crap like that. Here's a link to Glenn Beck transcript on oil drilling and polar bears. Glenn Beck - Current Events & Politics - Glenn Beck: Plasma's for Polar Bears Here's a couple quotes from that transcript. "Polar bear population in 1972 was 5,000. Polar bear population today is 25,000. Seems to me if you're going on the Endangered Species Act, you should probably be dwindling in numbers, not going up." "So if they can get the polar bear onto the Endangered Species Act, then they can say, you can't drill up in the Arctic, you can't drill in Canada, you can't drill in Alaska because you'll hurt the polar bear." Seems someone is always shooting us in our own foot, preventing us from becoming self-sufficient and less reliant on others for what we need.

Oooo! sorry, I thought you were talking about nuclear warheads. No, I totally agree with building nuclear power plants. they are extremely efficient and there is almost no chance of a nuclear meltdown. they were even relatively safe in the 70's. I am still keeping my opinion on oil though.

I mentioned the U.S. Military wanted to convert to synthectic fuels......... They said derived from coal, which we have plenty of. Washington said NOPE ! This frigg'in Green tax is total B.S. because who will end up paying it ? We Will ! And too we could loose more industry to other countrys. Nuclear Power Plants would put some people to work, which is good BUT the cost to build them is alot and the consumer will pay for it. Because I've paid for one that was built in Missisippi and I live in Arkansas !!! Fugg that !!! If the sorry azz Goverment would pay for them then I'm fine with it !!! Yes I'm a little perturbd (did i spell that right ?) Unless Oil comes down we'll be eatting grass soon like Cows ~!!! MOOoo Last edited by ArkansasHunter; 06-04-2008 at 05:56 PM. |
