2012228115416-cheaper-than-dirt_mFrom Cheaper Than Dirt’s Facebook page posted around lunchtime today, Tuesday the 19th.

Cheaper Than Dirt! is suspending online sales of firearms effective immediately. We are reviewing our policy internally, and will continue to be the leader in the outdoor industry with our full line of gear and accessories.

This is just another blow to the gun industry in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Connecticut. Walmart has taken out the Bushmaster AR15 offering from their website that included reviews.  Dick’s Sporting Goods has removed all AR15′s from their offerings at the counter and rumors of trying to return them to the vendors.  The NRA has disabled the facebook, and twitter accounts from all the backlash they were getting from anti-gunners.

Cerberus Capital Management is looking to sell their investment in Freedom Arms following the shooting.  Freedom Arms controls some of the biggest names in the firearm industry such as Remington, Marlin, Bushmaster, Para just to name a few.

Ruger and Smith & Wesson is seeing a fallout in the stock market seeing a 10% decrease since the shooting. Many folks are rushing to the gun stores buying ammo, accessories and anything they think might be covered in a ban that the Obama administration will propose in a forthcoming ban.

What is to come, is anyone’s guess.  It’s a crazy market over there, and one can only hope for stability to return.

What a load…….After seeing the price gouging from CTD on their mags this last week, they can forget my business.

  • Common Sense

Were any of the firearms used supplied by CTD? Of course not. Why is the whole country taking knee-jerk reactions over the actions of a nut job? Any firearms legislation will only affect law abiding citizens. The guy murdered 20 children with a stolen weapon. Does anyone think he would have changed his mind out of fear he would have had an illegal weapons charge against him? Of course not. Evil will always find the means to commit evil……Idiots

Cowards. Just as the NRA tucked tail and hid immediately following the incident, CTD has followed suit in a cowardly move that displays their true intent for their support of the second amendment, and that is turning profits during a time of potential crisis, but doing it in a politically friendly way that doesn’t hurt some of the sensitive feelings running around out there. Lime most of the big talking gun rights supporters out there, when #^%* hits the fan on the political field, they react in the same way I suspect they would act in a real time of crisis. This move has cost them the business of 12 people that I know of just in my local area, and we are all spreading the word. Glad to see they are falling for the change coming the second time around.

I will never make another purchase from your company. If you are going to turn tail and run, rather than support gun-owner rights you don’t deserve our business. I would say “good luck” but I hope you go out of business altogether.

after searching the net for 5 to 6 yrs. for guns, and ammo CTD was at the bottom of my list ! i’v found better deals at Cabelas, and there hi…Now after reviewing the YOU TUBE tapes on Sandy Hook, i’v a gut feeling this is going to turn into the same situation which happened in the 70′s about paying farmers big wages, “NOT TO GROW CROPS” !! can you imagine setting in your office on mon. morn., and the FEDS walk in and ask you NOT to sell guns anymore, and heres a cool couple million tax free to help ya out !! YA THINK ??
come on guys …..where would you start, if you wanted gun control ? gooooood guess……at the supplier

CTD has never been a bargin place. Their prices have always been closer to Bass Pro than Walmart. But this has put a nail in the coffin for me and many others. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM CTD AGAIN.
As for the ban tonight they annoiced it is dead for now. But they will be working on it again. So stay on guard.
