Freedom Group Acquires Para USA

It seems that Freedom Arms is buying as many gun manufactures as possible these days.  It’s becoming to find a company that has anything worthwhile to offer the public not being courted by Freedom Arms, Inc.  In their most recent acquisition the have purchased Para USA, based in Pineville, North Carolina. Para has become one of the industry’s finest 1911 manufacture.  Para was started in 1985, and became extremel popular with their double stack frame, and their trademarked light double action trigger systems.

It should be interesting to see how Freedom Arms uses the new company in their collection of large and noteworthy companies.

Freedom Arms,Inc. is scary.Who are these people?Has anyone heard any names associated with Freedom Arms,Inc. How do we know they are not a bunch of gun haters buying up companies quietly, only to kill them off when they are ready.?

Freedom Group is owned by Cerberus Capital Management, a private investments firm in Manhattan. This firm was started, and is owned by Steve Feinberg. Feinberg is well connected to the Republican party, with Dan Quayle working for Cerberus Capital, and Rumsfeld being a former client.

Wikipedia lists Feinberg as being an avid hunter.

That’s a relief. But Cerberus also bought Chrysler after Daimler was done with them, then gave it to the government for the bailout, screwing the shareholders. Rather mercenary/ruthless, although the point of investment is after all to make money. But it would be interesting to dig deeper and see if Soros actually does have his tentacles on this one.

I’m not sure if having one giant Leviathan of a holding company owning all the firearms manufacturers is good in that they can throw their weight around for gun rights, or bad in that there will essentially be a monopoly and they’ll be able to ask much higher prices once they’re done gobbling smaller companies, or bad in that it will only take one man’s decision for practically the whole firearms industry to lie down for, say, if the Senate ever ratifies the UN Small Arms Treaty, or any other gun grabbing scheme.
