What’s with the whistling at the end of the video? Haven’t heard anything like that since, ‘A Fist Full Of Dollars’! Anyway, that video is the very first time I’ve watched a High Point pistol perform flawlessly and without jamming – even once!

My real world experience with these pistols is that I’ve never seen one work for, say, an hour or more on any firing line I’ve ever been on without jamming at least once. In fact, I’m tempted to say, ‘Almost any pistol is going to run better.’

Would I carry a High Point pistol for self-defense? Nope, not me! Would I use one as a, ‘nightstand gun’? Again, nope, not me. Seen way too many of them bind up and fail and way too often, too.

Who cares about great factory service? I don’t want any factory service at all. Personally, I’d much rather purchase a well used 1911 pattern or some heavily beat up Glock pistol, rebuild it if I have to, and use that for any serious self-defense.

High Point pistols? They’re OK as, ‘range toys’, I guess. If you’ve got to have something that goes, ‘Bang!’ One of these things will go, ‘Bang!’ for ya; the only question is for how long?

No, this is not the mosin of the handgun world. A mosin is worth $100 because they were mass produced and so many were made for war, a Hi-Point is worth $100 because they are cheap, unreliable guns. If you ever see one in use, you will see it jam after 50 shots or so. And sorry, if your gun jams in a home break in you cant send it out to get fixed in the five seconds that engagement took place in. So no, it is not a good gun. A range toy is to say the least.

If you are going to spend the money to defend your life you better spend wisely. I suggest saving a little more and buy a gun you know will work when you need it and High Point is not known for reliability. By a good used gun that may have a few cosmetic flaws but is number one safe and then dependable.

I own a Hi-point .45, have fired it several hundred times. It has never jammed and I find it to be very accurate once you get accustomed to it. well worth the price and much less expensive than the name-brand guns, plus it’s made in the USA.
