Hunting and the Second Amendment?

“OK, I got it. More muskrat and mice might be alive. OK.  I think we can put up with that.”  - Joe Biden This is the second in a three part series.  The first focused on the disconnect between what politicians and the media say is needed and what they are doing to achieve it.  [...]

Beretta Threatens To Leave Maryland!

The oldest firearm manufacture in the world is threatening to move it’s US headquarters from Maryland to Virginia. Citing laws as the reason for the move, I can’t help but to wonder if the politicians are trying to pass these laws will regret it come November. Beretta has been making guns since 1526, so I [...]

This is the first of a multi-part series for Gun and Game that takes a look at Second Amendment rights and relevant gun usage in the 21st Century.  This article focuses on some of the issues for the current gun control debate and what could be done to resolve them.

Groupon Anti-Gun?

Groupon has gained worldwide attention for being able to offer local deals for about 50% of the normal price.  This seems like a great opportunity for a local business to make some quick cash, but there have been many reporting that it has caused the businesses to actually lose money to the “Groupon Affect”.  Some even claim it being the reason for the business had to close its doors. Although that alone should cause concern when supporting such a site, here comes the next strike against them.  They are simply anti-firearm.  They refuse to do any business with the National Rifle Association, or any firearm business.  You could suppose this is to not cause any ruffling of feathers, but I believe it has causing a ground movement to be against Groupon.

Here are a few alternatives to Pro-Firearm deal sites that stand behind the 2nd Amendment, and more importantly morals while doing business.

GearHog – They offer a daily deal usually at 50% of the normal cost, and every Sunday has a giveaway that is free to enter.  Highly recommended.

SlickGuns – A culmination of the entire great firearm deals on the Internet.  If you are looking for a firearm, I suggest searching here first.

Preparing Your ATV for Hunting Season

Recently I was introduced to ATV riding for recreational use.  It was quite a bit of fun, and exhilarating.  I was lucky enough to be introduced to ATV riding at a park close to the Air Force base in Goldsboro, NC.  The trails were amazing, the on-site mechanic, helped my buddy fix a small problem before riding and we were set.  I had never really gone off-roading unless you count going 4x4ing in the sands at the beach going off road.  After seeing the ATV I was riding go through mud pits, climb giant dunes, and just cruise along on the paths, I saw great potential taking an ATV hunting in the middle of great farm land I plan to hit up in a few weeks.  Before I just run off with the ATV I had purchased, there are a few tweaks I need to do, just for the hunting part of things.

Veterans Day 2011 In Geneseo, Illinois

Every year, Veterans Day is much the same in Geneseo: the volunteers gather before dawn to unfurl and set up hundreds of flags in the city park. Each flag honors a veteran from this tiny town. The number of flags grows every year. How can there be so many in such a small place?

Springfield Armory Releases XD(M) Compact .45

Springfield Armory added a new addition to the XD(M) family.  Can’t wait to try to get one on the range soon.

It’s finally here!

Requests have been pouring in, and now the XD(M)® 3.8 Compact is available in .45ACP.

Since we introduced the XD(M)® Compact in 9mm and .40, our Customer Service department has been swamped with requests for a .45 version. So, we’ve been frantically developing an amazing product that combines concealability and high capacity, with a big bullet, that, like all XD® and XD(M)® models

focuses on Point & Shoot Ergonomics™.

The genius of the XD(M)® Compact design is that it doubles as a full-size frame model with the use of the XD(M) Gear® Mag X-Tension™ (US Pat. 7191556) that offers a full-capacity back-up magazine. It’s also a great range option for people that don’t want to have to buy both a CCW, and a range pistol.

For more information about the XD(M)® Compact .45ACP, along with all XD(M)® models, please visit  www.The-M-Factor.com

Sincerely,

Springfield Armory®

Venison Chili

With Fall in full swing, and winter just around the corner, I thought a great chili recipe would be just the thing to warm everyone up on those rather cool nights. This would be great if at the hunting lodge with the guys or a simple meal served with cornbread.

This is also a great way to use some of the ground Venison from last years hunt.  You can use beef as a replacement, but skimming of grease would be required depending on the fat (more…)

Hunting In The Cold

The one trait about hunting season I normally dislike is, the cold. Being up in the tree stand, or sitting down below on the cold ground, just isn’t my idea of fun.  Having to wear a bulky gear that is restrictive just isn’t an option.  I was excited when I learned that Columbia released a new Omni-Heat Line of clothing that solves this problem.

Here is a short video of Wim Hoff, showing off why he doesn’t need it.  If you don’t know Hoff yet, he is a world record holder of over 18 world records, including the longest ice bath.  I think Columbia found the perfect spokesperson for their new line.
