homemade bows

    How would i go about to making a homemade bow. What wood would i use here in north texas we have boadark, cedar and oak i heard of people making bows with them.

    if I remember correctly the best bows are made with a cedar core and bamboo laminate on both sides for durability.....

    All depends on what kind of bow you are interested in, Osage Orange is one of the finest woods available and plentiful in Texas, Red Elm, Hickory, Mulberry, Pacific Yew, The list goes on. Are you interested in Long bows, Recurves, flat bows or self bows??

    Also look into Penobscot Bows...sneaky way to make a more powerful primitive bow by melding two bows together in a particular way. Looks wild and shoots well :D
