It's UNCONSTITUTIONAL in both cases! This will be thrown out, and the party responsible should be thrown in jail for FAILING to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America! They all take the Oath, but FEW of them ever consider it. We the People need to stand and DEMAND that all public servants be forced to uphold their oath or be placed in prison, just like the military!

Yea! For AL for stepping SLIGHTLY in the right direction. BOO! to the rest of them! I just am praying for the voters here in MN to wake up and vote out these so called "progressive liberals". AKA "almost socialists".

The 'may issue' caught me off guard. Glad to hear this may be a step toward Open Carry. Thanks for clarifying that.

May issue means "as long as you have no record, you're in" I'm not sure how it really differs from our previous "shall issue" because the wording is more-or-less identical to the permit aspect

Unreal, I hope this micro stamping law is challenged quickly before it catches on and other states decide to try it too. California might as well go ahead and bad unicorns as pets, since that's about as likely as micro stamping going into full production.

P.S. I'd be willing to bet that there are law makers that think that california is so important to the country, that if they mandate micro stamping there, then all the gun companies will retool and just do it for everything they produce. That way it will spread nationwide without law.

I know that "shall issue" means that if you're not prohibited they have to grant your permit. "may issue" means it's up to the discretion of whatever agency grants the permits. Here in Ohio it's the County Sheriff.

To give an example using Ohio (shall issue state), if you qualify you have to be granted a permit. If Ohio was a may issue state, you could get a sheriff that doesn't like ccw, and deny your permit even if you qualify.

Don't hold your breath. MN loves it's political "heroes". Franken, Klobuchar, Dayton, Humphrey (both Hubert and Skippy), Mondale, Wellstone etc. etc. etc.
We have long been the "California of the Midwest". If it's good enough for the land of fruits, nuts, and flakes rest assured it's good enough for Minnesota.
