Printed again... adnausium...M44 in ATI Camo stock... Camo Natalia, yes she is a beauty. I think the synthetic stock works best with carbines.:)

yes she is beutiful. i just didnt kno if it would be a little short at the end of the stock ( the barrel), but i can see it still sticks out a little ways. GOD! i wonder how long the regular mosins look with the stock.

A postwar (1946-1948) M44 is likely to have the best bore, but the earlier version carbine M38 is available for about $10 more. SOG has M38's for $89.95. From my own experience most of the M38's available now are counterbored, but typically still have very good rifling, and shoot very well.:)

The M38 does not have the bayonet attached.

yea the two important things are:
    1. no bayonet
    2. Carbine
after i pay the ffl transfer fee i would be paying 140 for the mosin. il just have to look for one at one of the faraway gun stores near where i live (chicago)

Dang, unless I was keeping the old wood stock in case I wanted to convert it back, I would cut off the two bands.

And the bayonet is nice if you are camping and want to toast some marshmallows.:09:

I need to take a new picture. The bands have been gone for months. The stock is now a spare for that rare "beater" with the perfect bore.:)

Nope. They should strip and sand just like regular stocks. Laminated stocks are just a way of using scrap pieces by pressure glueing them together (kind of like plywood but stronger) and then shaping and cutting.

Most of the M44's out there are solid birch. Usually laminated stocks cost $10-$20 more... as they are a little less common, and look nice.

I would get an AK or SKS. I think they are going bye-bye as well, and it won't matter who gets elected !!

I'm partial to the SKS as it is a classic rifle design and still relatively cheap.

Buy now, as the prices are continuing to climb. That alone should help make the decision, regardless of what happens in November.
